  • The following guide is for the installation of SQL Server 2019 Express, but newer versions should have similar options to select.

  • 1.) Select the "Custom" option for install
  •  
  • 2.) Leave the default Media Location and click Install
  •  
  • 3.) Once the installation package is downloaded select the "New SQL Server" option
  •  
  • 4.) Accept the License Terms and press Next
  •  
  • 5.) Allow the checks to run and then press Next once complete
  •  
  • 6.) In the Features Selection, REMOVE the check box for "Machine Learning Services and Language" then press Next 
  •  
  • 7.) In the Instance Configuration screen just leave the on the default and press Next
  •  
  • 8.) In the Server Configuration screen change the startup type for SQL Server Browser to Automatic and press Next
  •  
  • 9.) In the Database Engine Configuration screen, you will need to select "Mixed Mode" and then enter a SA account password. Please keep this password on file. The Jonas installer may need this password during the integration install. Note: Jonas does not keep this password on file for clients.

  • 10.) When the installation is complete close the window and then select the "Install SQL Server Management Tools" option in the Installation Center window

  • 11.) Following the default installation process for the SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) installation.
